USING WHAT NATURE CREATED

Using only what nature created to make beautiful things is an artistic and creative approach that embraces the raw materials and elements found in the natural world. It involves utilizing the inherent beauty and resources provided by nature, such as plants, flowers, stones, wood, shells, and other organic materials, to craft aesthetically pleasing objects or works of art.

This approach often emphasizes the harmony and balance found in nature, as well as the unique textures, colors, and patterns that arise from the natural world. By relying solely on nature's creations, artists and craftsmen can tap into the inherent qualities and characteristics of these materials, allowing them to become an integral part of the final creation.

This philosophy of working with nature's offerings fosters a deep connection with the environment, as it encourages a respectful and sustainable approach towards the resources we use. It promotes an appreciation for the intricate beauty and diversity found in the natural world and encourages individuals to explore their creativity within the boundaries set by nature itself.

Whether it's creating art, fashion, home decor, or other forms of expression, using only what nature created fosters a sense of authenticity and harmony. It allows the artist to collaborate with nature, showcasing its inherent elegance and inspiring others to embrace the organic beauty that surrounds us.

MEET MEREDITH

Well…The pandemic shutdown had happened on March 21 of 2020, now what? I had just opened up my salon with my business partner in October 15, 2019. We were happy, inspired and on a roll! When we got the email that our business had to close it was a bittersweet deal, we were exhausted from working our butts off for months and months along with being mothers of young daughters, so a break was a relief! On the other hand, how are we going to make it through??

I decided that it was all going to work out since the whole world was affected and there had to be help coming someway somehow. After that mindset was installed, I was still in the inspired headspace of creating!

A few months before the salon opened my husband had built a his/her shed that sat empty and unfinished until march 21 2020! With all this “down time” I was going to have my hubs suggest I finish out my half of the shed, some call them “she shed”, well hell, I think I will! So we tore down our old wood fence and started tacking up the beautifully weathered wood to my walls, mind you this shed of mine is only 3x7ft space, mama doesn’t need much! Dang, I just loved how the tiny tiny shop felt! So what should I make?? I haven’t made jewelry since the 5th grade!

As I was playing around with my four-year-old daughter at the time, it dawned on me…stick earrings, that’s what I want to make!!!! I can drop down into the open space behind my house and forage through the area while being in nature with my little! I collected all these oh so pretty sticks and then ordered some earring hooks and got busy! I figured that a nail file was the best with to sand my sweet sticks and then anchored the eye hook in the wood with some rad glue sauce! From there the love fun and joy of making something from nature was ignited!

I started giving them away to friends for gifts and a few bought then from me during the “no paycheck days”. They are naturally (no stains, no varnish) beautiful sustainable and lightweight! When you can’t be in nature wear it!! You can put meaning to anything and so I took qualities that wood has and wrote a meaningful bit about them… “It WOOD behoove us to create a solid matrix of strength inside of us just like woos does in order to resist compression. This matrix of strength helps us to resist the pressures of life…listen to yourself and to nature…create your inner strength!”

It’s been a journey of having the time to make them with a full-time career and family, as well as how do we get the word out and sell them?? the story above has the challenges!:)

I love to create unique one of a kind wood earrings out of fallen sticks. I’m known for taking things lightly just like my earrings! I’m most proud of the fact that I use what nature provides to use abundantly and that it’s 100% sustainable minus the hooks. My personal good vibes energy and my eye for what I think make a great pair! I also want to give back to the environment and will start to donate a portion of my proceeds as this company grows. We borrow this planet from our children!

Doing the right things in the ways, we can and sharing and giving love! It’s simple and works with absolutely everything!
